Tester Agreement

Independent contractor terms for testers on QATested.

Last updated June 25, 2025

These documents are template policies for early launch. They are not legal advice. Have a qualified attorney review them before handling real users, payments, or identity documents at scale.

This Tester Agreement supplements our Terms of Service and applies when you register or work as a tester on QATested (qatested.io). By claiming tests, submitting work, or setting up payouts, you agree to this agreement.

This agreement works together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy.

1. Independent contractor status

You acknowledge and agree that you are an independent contractor, not an employee, partner, joint venturer, or agent of QATested or any developer using the platform.

Nothing in this agreement creates an employment relationship. You are free to determine when, where, and how you perform accepted testing work, subject to test deadlines and instructions.

You are not entitled to employee benefits, minimum wage guarantees, unemployment insurance, workers' compensation, or paid leave from QATested or developers.

2. How work is assigned

You choose which open tests to claim. Developers set scope, instructions, deadlines, and payout amounts for each test.

QATested provides the marketplace, payment infrastructure, and moderation tools but does not supervise day-to-day performance of your testing work.

3. Taxes and reporting

You are solely responsible for reporting and paying all taxes, duties, and assessments arising from compensation you receive through the platform.

Depending on applicable law and payment totals, Stripe or QATested may issue tax forms such as IRS Form 1099. You agree to provide accurate tax and payout information through Stripe Connect.

Consult your own tax advisor. QATested does not provide tax advice.

4. Compensation

Payout amounts are displayed before you claim a test. Payment is contingent on completing the assigned work and receiving developer approval.

Approved earnings are credited to your in-app balance and may be transferred to your connected bank account through Stripe Connect, subject to Stripe rules and platform policies.

Bank transfers may be delayed until the developer's payment clears in Stripe (often 2–3 business days on first payout) and until you complete Connect onboarding.

We may adjust, delay, or reverse payouts in cases of fraud, policy violations, duplicate submissions, chargebacks, or errors.

5. Work standards

You agree to:

  • Follow test instructions honestly and completely.
  • Submit original work that reflects your own testing.
  • Do not share developer materials outside what the test requires.
  • Respond professionally in messages and moderation requests.
  • Maintain accurate profile, skills, and verification information.

6. Confidentiality

Developers may share non-public products, credentials, staging environments, or business information for testing purposes.

You must keep such information confidential and use it only to perform the assigned test. Do not copy, disclose, or reuse confidential materials except as necessary to deliver your submission.

7. WordPress sandbox environments

Some tests provide a temporary WordPress site provisioned for your claim. You receive site URL and admin credentials only for the duration of that claim.

Use the sandbox only to complete the assigned test. Do not use it for unrelated work, store personal data unnecessarily, or attempt to persist access after the test ends.

If a submission is rejected and the slot reopens, the sandbox may be destroyed after a platform hold period. You may lose access without notice once the hold expires or the test settles.

Treat WordPress admin credentials and any developer plugin code as confidential under Section 6.

8. Identity verification

We may require government ID verification before you claim certain tests or receive payouts.

You agree that ID documents and legal name you submit are accurate and belong to you. Misrepresentation may result in permanent removal.

9. Your tools and expenses

You provide your own computer, internet access, and software needed to perform testing unless a test explicitly provides resources.

You bear your own business expenses unless a developer agrees otherwise outside the platform.

10. Submission rights

You retain ownership of your original feedback, recordings, and written responses, but grant developers and QATested the rights needed to review, display, and use submissions for the test, quality review, and dispute resolution.

11. Termination

You may stop using the platform at any time. We may suspend or remove tester access for policy violations, poor quality, fraud, or legal risk.

Termination does not entitle you to payment for unapproved work.

12. Other terms

This Tester Agreement supplements the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If there is a conflict, the Terms of Service control except where this agreement provides tester-specific terms.

We may update this agreement by posting a revised version. Continued tester activity after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
