Terms of Service

Rules for using QATested as a developer, tester, or visitor.

Last updated June 25, 2025

These documents are template policies for early launch. They are not legal advice. Have a qualified attorney review them before handling real users, payments, or identity documents at scale.

QATested LLC ("QATested", "we", "us", or "our") operates QATested (qatested.io), a marketplace connecting developers who need structured QA feedback with independent testers. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of our platform at https://app.qatested.io.

Related documents: Privacy Policy, Refund Policy, and Tester Agreement.

1. Acceptance

By creating an account, posting a test, claiming a slot, or otherwise using the platform, you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

If you work as a tester, you also agree to the Tester Agreement. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.

2. Platform roles

QATested is a marketplace, not an employer of testers and not a party to the testing work performed between developers and testers.

Developers post paid QA tests, fund reserved tester slots, and review submissions. Testers claim available slots, complete assigned work, and may receive payout when a developer approves their submission.

We may offer moderation, verification, and dispute support, but we do not guarantee that any test will be filled, approved, or paid.

3. Accounts and eligibility

You must provide accurate account information and keep it current. You are responsible for activity under your account.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter contracts in your jurisdiction.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, abuse the platform, or create legal or security risk.

4. Developer payments and funding

Developers pay upfront to reserve tester slots before a test goes live. Payment is processed through Stripe.

The checkout total equals the number of reserved slots multiplied by the per-tester payout amount, plus a platform fee percentage on those slots. The platform fee percentage is shown before checkout and is locked for that test at publish time.

WordPress plugin tests include an additional per-slot hosting charge for isolated sandbox sites. That amount is shown separately at checkout before you pay.

Default platform fee is 20% unless a different rate is displayed for your account or test. Fees cover marketplace operations, payment processing, moderation, and platform support.

Developers authorize us to charge the displayed total, hold funds for approved tester payouts, and refund unused slot balances according to the settlement rules below and our Refund Policy.

Card payments may take a few business days to become available in our Stripe balance for tester transfers. Publishing and paying before testers finish work reduces payout delays at approval time.

5. Settlement, refunds, and unused slots

Testers are paid only after a developer approves their submission. Rejected submissions reopen the slot for another tester; they do not automatically trigger a refund to the developer.

After the test deadline, developers have a review window to approve or reject pending submissions. When the review period ends, unused or uncompleted slots are refunded automatically, including tester pay and the platform fee on those unused slots.

For WordPress plugin tests, the per-slot sandbox hosting fee is refunded only for slots where no sandbox was ever provisioned. Once a site is created for a slot, that hosting fee is not refunded, including when a rejected slot reopens after the rejection hold expires.

Developers may cancel for a full refund only before any tester has claimed a slot on that test.

Refund timing depends on Stripe and your payment method. We do not control bank posting times after a refund is initiated. See our Refund Policy for examples and timing details.

6. Tester payouts

Approved work is credited to your in-app earnings balance. Bank transfer requires completing Stripe Connect onboarding and meeting Stripe's payout requirements.

If payout setup is incomplete when work is approved, funds remain in your balance until you finish onboarding and a transfer can be processed.

We may delay or withhold payout if we suspect fraud, policy violations, chargebacks, or legal obligations require it.

Testers are responsible for their own taxes. See the Tester Agreement for independent-contractor terms.

  • After approval, earnings show on Earnings immediately; bank transfer is a separate step via Stripe Connect.
  • First bank transfers often take 2–3 business days while the developer's payment clears in Stripe — use Retry transfer on Earnings when funds are available.
  • After a successful transfer, your bank may take additional business days to post the deposit (Stripe and your bank control that timing).

7. Disputes between users

Developers and testers should first attempt to resolve issues through the platform messaging tools and the developer review process.

Either party may contact platform moderation for help with quality disputes, suspected abuse, or policy violations.

We may review submissions, messages, and account activity at our discretion. Our decisions about warnings, reversals, refunds, or account action are final for platform purposes, without limiting any rights that cannot be waived by law.

Chargebacks or payment disputes initiated outside the platform may result in account suspension and recovery of associated costs where permitted by law.

8. User content and confidentiality

You retain ownership of content you submit, but grant us a license to host, display, and process it as needed to operate the platform.

Developers must not post unlawful content, credentials, production secrets, or material they do not have rights to share.

Testers must treat non-public product information, credentials, and test materials as confidential and use them only to complete assigned testing.

9. Prohibited conduct

You agree not to:

  • Fake submissions, duplicate accounts, or misrepresenting identity or qualifications.
  • Harassment, hate speech, or abusive communication.
  • Circumventing platform payments or soliciting off-platform payment for work found on QATested.
  • Scraping, reverse engineering, or interfering with platform security or availability.
  • Uploading malware or attempting unauthorized access to developer systems.

10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The platform is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim warranties to the fullest extent permitted by law.

We are not responsible for the quality of developer products, tester work product, or outcomes of any test.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability arising from or related to the platform will not exceed the greater of (a) amounts you paid us in the 12 months before the claim or (b) USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.

11. Termination

You may stop using the platform at any time. You may request account deletion through account settings, subject to legal retention requirements.

We may suspend or terminate access for violations, risk, non-payment, or discontinuation of the service.

Sections that by nature should survive termination — including payment obligations, confidentiality, disclaimers, and limits of liability — will survive.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will post the revised version with a new effective date.

Material changes may also be communicated by email or in-app notice. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.

13. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, excluding conflict-of-law rules, except where mandatory local consumer protection laws apply.

Disputes should first be sent to our contact email below. If informal resolution fails, disputes will be resolved in the courts or arbitration forum specified by applicable law and any separate agreement between us.
