These terms cover how the platform works for both sides — developers who post tests and testers who complete them. Please read them. They're written in plain English and won't take long.
1. Who these terms apply to
By creating an account on QATested (at app.qatested.io), you agree to these terms. "You" means anyone who uses the platform — whether as a developer, a tester, or both. "We" means QATested.
If you use the platform on behalf of a company, you represent that you have authority to bind that company to these terms.
2. What QATested is
QATested is a marketplace. Developers pay to have their software tested by verified human testers. We provide the platform, payment infrastructure, and quality controls — but we are not a party to the individual test agreements between developers and testers. We do not employ testers.
3. Accounts
- You must be 18 or older to create an account
- You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure
- You may not share your account or create accounts on behalf of others without authorisation
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms
4. For developers
Posting tests
- You must own or have the right to have the software you submit tested
- Test instructions must be honest and complete — do not mislead testers about what is being tested
- You set the number of slots, pay per tester, and test deadline when creating a test
- Tests go live immediately after payment. You may not edit slot count or price after publishing
Reviewing and approving
- You have a review window after the test deadline to approve or reject submissions
- You must review submissions fairly and in good faith — rejection requires a genuine reason related to submission quality, not personal preference
- Approved submissions trigger automatic payment to the tester. This cannot be reversed
- If you do not review submissions before the review window closes, they are settled automatically based on platform defaults
Payment
- You pay upfront when publishing a test. Payment is held and released to testers as submissions are approved
- A 30% platform fee is charged on the total test value. This covers verification, settlement, and platform operations
- Unused slots (unfilled or unapproved after the review window) are automatically refunded to your original payment method
- Stripe processes all payments. You agree to Stripe's terms in addition to ours
5. For testers
Verification
- You must complete a one-time identity verification and skills assessment before claiming your first slot
- You must provide accurate identity information. Submitting false documents is grounds for immediate permanent ban
- You must connect a Stripe account to receive payouts
Completing tests
- When you claim a slot, it is reserved for you. If you do not submit before the deadline, the slot is released and may affect your rating
- All submissions must include a genuine screen recording of your testing session
- Feedback must be honest and specific to your own experience. Do not copy or fabricate responses
- You must follow the test instructions provided by the developer
- You may not claim slots on software you created or are affiliated with
Ratings and tiers
- Developers rate your submission after approval
- Your tier is calculated from your average rating, approval rate, and test count and updates automatically
- We may downgrade or suspend your account for consistently poor-quality submissions or policy violations
Payouts
- Payment is released to your Stripe Connect account once a developer approves your submission
- Stripe's payout schedule and terms govern when funds reach your bank account
- You are responsible for any taxes on earnings. QATested does not withhold taxes
6. Prohibited conduct
The following are not allowed on QATested:
- Creating fake accounts, submitting false identity information, or impersonating others
- Coordinating with another party to game ratings, approvals, or payouts
- Using the platform to test software that is illegal, harmful, or that violates third-party rights
- Attempting to circumvent payment or communicate off-platform to avoid fees
- Reverse engineering, scraping, or abusing platform infrastructure
- Harassment of any user, on or off platform
Violations may result in immediate account suspension and forfeiture of any pending payments.
7. Intellectual property
Developers retain all rights to their software. Testers retain rights to their original written feedback, but grant QATested and the developer a licence to use, store, and display that feedback within the platform.
Screen recordings submitted via Loom remain on the tester's Loom account. Developers access recordings via a shared link — QATested does not host or own the video files.
8. Disputes between users
If a developer and tester disagree about a submission (e.g. disputed rejection), either party may contact us at hello@qatested.io. We will review the submission and make a final decision on payment. Our decision is binding.
9. Platform availability
We aim for high availability but don't guarantee uptime. We may update, modify, or take the platform offline for maintenance. We will not compensate for downtime except where required by law.
10. Limitation of liability
QATested is provided "as is." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
- Indirect, consequential, or incidental damages
- Loss of data, revenue, or profit
- Actions or omissions of other users on the platform
Our total liability for any claim related to the platform is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months preceding the claim.
11. Termination
You may close your account at any time by contacting us. We may suspend or terminate accounts for violations of these terms, with or without notice. On termination, any pending approved payments owed to a tester will still be processed. Pending test funds held for a developer will be refunded, minus any settlements already processed.
12. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the platform evolves. We'll notify you by email for material changes and update the date at the top of this page. Continued use after the effective date of changes means you accept the new terms.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Illinois, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Illinois.
